The following fiscal note applies: Fiscal note, Dept. of Administration, 2/2/96 The Governor's transmittal letter, dated February 1, 1996, appears below: Dear Speaker Phillips: Under the authority of art. III, sec. 18, of the Alaska Constitution, I am transmitting a bill that would make the Alaska Commission on Aging a permanent commission, not subject to regular sunset review. The Alaska Commission on Aging, formerly known as the Older Alaskans Commission, is due to expire on June 30, 1996. However, in a report regarding the Older Alaskans Commission dated July 30, 1993, the legislative auditor concluded that the commission should not be subject to sunset review because, among other reasons, the existence of such a commission is a requirement for the receipt of federal money. I agree that sunset review for this commission is not appropriate. 1996-02-02 House Journal Page 2608 HB 467 I urge your prompt consideration and passage of this bill. Sincerely, /s/ Tony Knowles Governor
